Welcome

“Past the town of Helensville and through those lands whose boundaries lie close by, there writhes a river, the Kaipara, yellow and grey and edged with olive green. This waterway was the path by which people, Polynesian first and then European, found their early way to begin our history.”

Colleen Sheffield, Men Came Voyaging

Te Awaroa Museum, Helensville, is saying goodbye to another great museum supporter. Alan Scott passed away on 29 April 2025 in North Shore Hospital. He was a tireless researcher and helped us with many enquiries.

Donation in lieu of flowers

Alan’s family has asked that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to the museum. We will be sure to use it on a project that Alan would have liked to have been a part of. See here for where to make your donation.
